Cheonan will be canceling the Cheonan Wirye Cherry Blossom Festival, which was scheduled to be held in April, to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Originally, the 8th Cheonan Wirye Cherry Blossom Festival, a representative festival of Cheonan that was announced in the springtime, was to be held for two days from April 18 to 19. However, as the number of COVID-19 patients has been increasing rapidly nationwide, the cherry blossom festival has been canceled.
The festival promotion committee made this decision to secure the safety of the local residents and because the anxiety of parents may increase since the festival is held in the Eunseok Elementary School area.
The Cheonan Wirye Cherry Blossom Festival has a grand view of approximately 15 km of cherry blossoms along the riverside that flows through the center of Buk-myeon, and it is visited by 30,000 ~40,000 springtime picnickers.
In addition to selling local agricultural products, it offered various contents, experiences, performances, and attractions that led to the revitalization of the local economy.
Although the festival has been canceled due to COVID-19, Buk-myeon is still anticipating springtime picnickers to visit. Therefore, preventive measures against COVID-19 will be established as well as a measure to revitalize the local agricultural distribution network that has been lessened due to the cancellation of the festival.
It is unfortunate that the Cheonan Wirye Cherry Blossom Festival, which was held every year since 2013, will be canceled.
