Cheonan-si is accelerating self-reliance and revitalization of the region, realization of sustainable agriculture, job creation for small farmers as well as older farmers, and utilization of local resources.
We were able to interview CEO Jidong Kim, who had started a subscription business with agricultural products produced by smaller and older farmers of the Cheonan region through a preliminary social enterprise in 2011, and is now running ‘CC Farm’, the Agricultural Association Corporation of Cheonan-si Agricultural Specialty Product Distribution Enterprise Organization, after being certified as a social enterprise in 2015.

‘CC Farm, the Agricultural Association Corporation of Cheonan-si Agricultural Specialty Product Distribution Enterprise Organization’
The social economic organization of the rural area is not only taking care of the production, processing, and sale of agricultural products, but is also supporting the sale of agricultural products from small farmers, which often find difficulties in the securance of sales channels, while providing jobs to vulnerable social groups such as the seniors of the region.
CC Farm was founded to assist consumer convenience by gathering broadly dispersed local foods in one location. In addition, CC Farm aimed to secure stable sales channels for smaller and older farmers, who were unfortunately relegated to the blind spot of distribution.
In order to fulfill such aims, they have been holding the direct distribution marketplace for agricultural products on every Wednesday from May through November at the Sports Complex.
They say that if you get to taste seasonal fruits and vegetables that have been personally farmed, you will have no other choice but to become a fan. These food ingredients picked on the same day provide the freshness and taste that you cannot experience from the products sold at supermarkets these days.
It is also eco-friendly as the products are from nearby regions, which helps to reduce transportation and storage costs.
In addition, the Agricultural Culture Experience and the Kimchi Making Experience are held for consumer education on local food every year.
There is an advantage in providing healing to urban dwellers and increasing additional value of rural communities by introducing the safe and healthy local food of the Cheonan region through the food experience of seasonal agricultural products for consumers and producers together.
CC Farm buys and resells primary products, such as rice, grains, vegetables, dried greens, and seasonal fruits, and also purchases seasonal agricultural products from small farmers to produce and sell processed agricultural products, such as oil, wine, juice, honey, and extracts, all by commissioning the small and medium enterprises of Cheonan region.
CC Farm products are available for school meal services, at local food stores, and sold as return gifts and souvenirs.
CC Farm especially make products for holidays or group orders with their agricultural specialty products as gifts for both those who are giving and receiving gifts to be satisfied. The packaging can be customized, which offers the advantage of being a gift suitable for different purposes.
The agricultural specialty products of Cheonan are being sold through diverse sales channels even now; however, CC Farm is looking into online sales as well to introduce these excellent agricultural specialty products of Cheonan to a wider audience and further increase sales. In order to do so, continuous manpower is necessary and CC Farm plans to make more efforts for competitive product development.
We hope for CC Farm, in trying to resolve concerns of the local community, such as providing good food production, good food distribution, and mitigating job creation issues through social economy, to be equipped with competitiveness of products and services to move forward and maintain sustainable business through stable sales.
