Sundae (순대) Restaurant Street in Cheonan
Apr 29, 2019

Sundae is a type of blood sausage that is generally made by steaming cow or pig’s intestine stuffed with various ingredients. It is also known as one of the most popular street foods in Korea. In Cheonan, there is a street that is full of restaurants specializing in Sundae.

From Cheonan station, it took us 45 minutes by bus to arrive in Byeongcheon (병천), where the Sundae street can be found. Once we get off the bus, we already can find one famous restaurant for sundae. Their menu consists of many types of food with Sundae its main ingredients. There is a Sundae soup and one big plate of Sundae.

We tried to order one big plate of Sundae and a soup. There is also a lot of seasoning to put some flavor on the soup. The restaurant really does give a big size of serving and it looks so appetizing. The Sundae in that place compare to the one that was on the streets is different in taste and size.

My Korean friend actually thought that the food might be strange and disgusting for foreigners because it is made by pig intestines, but she was really surprised by how I ate the food quite well. The Sundae was soft comparing with others (street foods). She actually has no idea what the difference is. But it’s bigger and softer. And the tastes were also quite different. More nutty and rich flavor.

How to get there?
