Trampoline Fitness Classes
Oct 25, 2019

It is hard to deny that Korean food is one of the best cuisines in the world. Such amazing flavor and so many different dishes to choose from. Then paired with this amazing food you have the drinking culture from many rounds in a night to a few nights a week. But with that comes a lot of weight gain and loss of energy. It’s so challenging to get the motivation to be on a regular exercise regimen. As a foreigner, Korean gyms can be really frustrating because of the overcrowding in such small spaces and the lack of gym etiquette by many of the members. Running is always an option but not safe when fine dust levels are high, running isn’t the most exciting way to exercise. So then what options do we have to bounce back from this weight gain and feel healthy and energized? Jumping classes!

Jumping classes are group fitness classes where you follow along with an instructor to choreographed jumping routines on a trampoline. These Jumping classes are held in Dujeong by an instructor named Min-Keong who is the sweetest, bubbliest ball of energy. She’s owned this trampoline gym for three years. She’s traveled all over Korea performing in Jumping routines at various events. You can follow her on Instagram at s.minkyeong to see all of her cool travels as well as tidbits from some of her classes. She doesn’t know much English but she does an amazing job through body language and demonstrations to communicate the coaching that is needed. The classes last 40 minutes. 30 minutes of jumping on the trampolines followed by 10 minutes of other exercises.

The first class is free, so there is no excuse to at least try it out. Be ready for these trampolines to kick then lift your butt. With the constant jumping and moving paired with the post-workout squats, you will feel the burn but enjoy every moment of it. Be sure for your first class to arrive at least 15-20 minutes before the start time. The instructor gives a brief tutorial of all the basic jumps and moves that are done throughout the class. She also helps with your posture and form. After one class, I was hooked. The combination of the amazing instructor, the positive energy, and the fun of bouncing around for exercise, I 10 out of 10 recommend trying it out.

The best thing about the membership is that in one day, a member can participate in as many classes as they’d like. The plans also allow for a no-penalty pause in membership if members know in advance that they will be unable to attend. This includes 2 weeks of stoppage for the 3-month plan and 4 weeks of stoppage for the 6-month plan.

There is also an option to sign-up for a set number of classes. One class is 8,000, ten classes plus a bonus class for 80,000, and 20 plus four bonus classes for 160,000. If you sign up for the ten classes, these must be used up within 2 months; the 20 classes must be done in 3 months.

There is one additional option for a separate class called Kangoo. Like the trampoline class, the first time is free. This class is only offered twice a week and costs 70,000 for a month. To get the combo of Jumping and Kangoo class is 70,000 plus the original Jumping price with a discount of 30,000 with the one month plan, 60,000 with the three-month plan, and 90,000 with the 6-month plan. Kangoo takes slightly more coordination and balance than the jumping classes. Instead of using the trampolines each person wears a pair of Kangoo Jumps which are special rebound shoes. This style of exercise has been popularized in Europe and has been around for 10 years now. In my opinion, Kangoo is equally if not honestly more fun than the trampoline jumping. Moving around in these cool shoes paired with the added challenge makes for an absolute blast of a workout.
